The Apollo Legacy.
Apollo Magazine was borne of the vision of a group of like-minded individuals who identified an emerging demand in the rapidly-changing market for guys' magazines for something unique, sexy, a little more sophisticated, informative, yet iconically Australian and humorous.
Apollo, the ancient Greek God of Light and Truth, encapsulates the overall philosophy and aura surrounding Apollo magazine. In Greek mythology, Apollo was one of the most important and many-sided of the Olympian deities, who reflected the Greek ideal of the “kouros” (a beardless youth). Apollo was worshipped as a god of light and sun, truth and prophecy, sensuality, archery, medicine and healing, music, poetry, and the arts. In keeping with this philosophy, the magazine encompasses a broad range of content including high-end sensuous photoshoots featuring some of Australia’s most gorgeous models, informative articles on music, health, movies, sport and much more.
Fast-forward a few millenia to May 25, 1961, when President John Fitzgerald Kennedy announced his support for the initiation of the Apollo space program, formally declaring America’s goal of putting a man on the moon- an idea previously considered crazy if not impossible. The Apollo program was so-named due to it’s bold, ambitious, far-reaching and ground-breaking vision.
Apollo Magazine reflects the free-thinking, free-spirited, individualistic, sophisticated and inherently sensual society of the ancient Greeks as epitomised by the God of Light and Truth, Apollo, and at the same time encapsulates the bold, ground-breaking and somewhat wild conception of one of America’s most visionary Presidents.
Apollo will be distributed nationally.
